CRC Watersheds
2021 Annual Community Report
Caring for our watersheds is a four-season job, and we illustrate that in this community report. From planting and tree maintenance to streams cleanups, organizational work, and events, there is always something to do.
So What Did We Do This Year?
Expansion In CRC's Corporate Partner Program
2020 was a tough year for volunteerism, as many organizations put a moratorium on group volunteering. When things started to open up in spring 2021, Lynn Meza, CRC Volunteer Coordinator, focused especially on expanding the CRC Corporate Partner Program. The program is a win-win for both CRC and the companies involved. As a volunteer-based organization, CRC could not accomplish what we do without many helping hands. And with many companies encouraging, or even mandating, community service of their employees, CRC provides a wonderful opportunity for employee groups to volunteer together and do something very tangible and gratifying to heal our environment.
In the late spring and early summer, Lynn coordinated with several companies who are new to volunteering with CRC and we are excited to welcome these new corporate partners to the CRC volunteer corps: Sensus, Covanta, CHOP, and Transunion brought groups out to volunteer with CRC over the summer. Monroe Energy and AXA will have their first volunteer event this coming fall. And established partners DePuy Synthes, BlackRock, and Harrah’s have been back out with us again. We are thrilled to work with old and new friends!
Bringing young people into the fold is also a special interest for CRC. Getting people involved in environmental stewardship at a young age makes for responsible and environmentally aware adults. Lynn works with students at the high school and college level, bringing out all varieties of student groups like service teams, fraternities and sororities, Scouts groups, and environmental clubs. New to CRC in 2021 we had student groups from Immaculata College and Malvern Preparatory School.
